Helen Lewis Moore hails from Dedham, Massachusetts, a small town just outside of Boston. She began playing guitar and piano at the age of ten and had written her first song by eleven. She had a musical influence in the family, her mother, originally from Nashville, was also a singer, performing on many radio shows in the forties, including WSM.

Helen spent her early years pursuing an acting career. She attended the Boston Conservatory of Acting and later received her BFA in Musical Theater from Stephens College in Missouri. She worked as an actress, model, and singer for ten years
